Treatments

Acupuncture

Jen has 19+ years experience and is very gentle when inserting of fine, sterile, single use needles into the body at certain acupuncture points.

Scientific studies have shown acupuncture can optimize reproductive health, improve IUI or IVF success rates,  calm the nervous system, improve sleep, boost energy, enhance digestion, decrease body pain and much more.

Electro Acupuncture

• small electrodes are attached to certain needles to give a gentle stimulation

• very effective for delayed ovulation & chronic body pain

Scalp Acupuncture

• super fine needles are inserted horizontally along certain scalp lines

• very effective for brain or spinal cord issues, Parkinson’s, mental emotional balance
  

Ear Acupuncture

• in Chinese Medicine, the entire body is reflected in the ear

• certain points represent specific areas of the body

Herbal Medicine

Jen considers herbs like superfoods designed by nature to support you. She chooses only GMP (good manufacturing practices) quality herbs to assure excellent quality and herbal potency. She can prescribe from a wide range of pre-combined formulas or custom blend for you, your constitution and/or your health issue.

Her most popular formulas include her FLOW Blends for the different phases of the menstrual cycle to optimize hormones and enhance fertility, the Sleep Formula for inviting deeper, more restful sleep and Yin Chiao for colds that start with a sore throat.

Massage

Skilled and experienced in acupressure massage, Jen adds this to many treatments or does massage alone to address your health concern. Her years of experience assist with identifying tight areas and assisting with muscle release and relaxation.

Moxabustion

The burning of the Chinese herb Artemesia vulgaris “Mugwort" 5–10 cm above the surface of the skin is very useful for increasing the warming energy (yang qi) in the body.

Moxabustion is also very useful for digestive issues with cold symptoms, lumps in the skin, joint injuries and turning breech position babies.

Cupping

Cupping is the use of heated glass or suction plastic cups on the surface of the skin to increase blood circulation to stimulate the flow of energy.  Cupping is like a reverse massage where the suction pulls skin, tissue and muscle upwards.

The purpose of cupping is to enhance circulation, remove heat and reduce pain in the body.

Cupping is very effective for relieving neck, shoulder and back tension. It's also very useful in common colds or flu's for reducing cough and congestion, allergies, red, itchy skin conditions and poor circulation.

Nutrition & Supplements

Jen believes from experience that most people should take an excellent quality multivitamin, fish oil and probiotic. There are also other nutrients that may benefit you and your symptoms, and she will guide you towards the ones she thinks are essential.

With decreasing quality in commercial food production and increased use of antibiotics in foods, Jen finds proper diet & nutrition counseling essential and use of person specific supplements beneficial.

Jen prefers Sun Ten, Golden Flower, Thorne, Cytomatrix, NFH, Designs for Health and Signature Supplements as they are superior quality to many other supplements available. She also has some products custom compounded from Bema Botanicals and Signature Supplements.

Functional Medicine Testing

Food Sensitivity Testing

Food sensitivity testing give you information about which foods could be causing inflammation in your digestive tract. Sensitive foods are different from food allergies such as peanuts or shellfish in that the reactions are generally milder and slower to show effects.

Symptoms seen often include joint or muscle pain, chronic low back pain, bed-wetting, recurrent bladder or upper respiratory infections, chronic headaches, fatigue, hives, eczema, psoriasis, canker sores, ulcerative colitis, gallbladder attacks, heartburn and indigestion.

Jen has seen so many people with stubborn skin conditions finally get quick improvement with identification and elimination of sensitive foods that she now recommends them for most skin condition patients.

Hormone Testing

Jen highly recommends hormone testing for women with no periods (amenorrhea), fertility challenges that don’t shift quickly with acupuncture and Chinese herbs, menopausal women and men with erectile or sexual function challenges.

It is amazing that we can now test hormone over a day or month through saliva or urine and know exactly what levels are in the tissues. This often gives us more accurate information than a blood test alone. 

For example, the cycle long Meridian Valley Extended Female Hormone panel shows us where your hormones are at over a whole cycle. Once the levels are seen, we can provide a treatment protocol to reduce excess hormones and increase ones that are low to bring the body back into balance.

Gastrointestinal Testing

Certain digestive or bowel issues benefit from GI testing combining saliva and stool samples to reveal bacteria, parasites or other imbalances that may be affecting proper digestive function.

Organic Acids Testing (OAT)

Offers a comprehensive metabolic snapshot of a client’s overall health with 70 markers. After treatment, clients report significant improvements including increased energy, regular bowel function, increased alertness, mental clarity and concentration, improved verbal skills, less hyperactivity, decreased abdominal pain.

One of the key benefits to the OAT is that it provides an accurate evaluation of intestinal yeast and bacteria. Abnormally high levels of these microorganisms can cause or worsen behavior disorders, hyperactivity, movement disorders, fatigue and immune function.
